Chassis:
The eighth and final LMP-1 Roadster S chassis built by Reynard for Panoz, this example initially served as a spare for the works program. After the cars were pressed back into service, chassis 08 was used as an LMP 01 from the fall of the 2002 season. Sporting a very patriotic livery, it was raced by Bill Auberlen and Bryan Herta for the works team at Laguna Seca to a sixth overall. With Gunnar Jeannette joining the driver line-up, it then finished fifth in the Petit Le Mans. Under the JML Team Panoz banner, it was then raced at Le Mans by Olivier Beretta, Max Papis and again Gunnar Jeannette. Starting tenth, they finished an impressive fifth overall. It was then raced in the remainder of the American Le Mans Series with a third at Trois-Rivières and Miami as the best results. That was until the Peitt Le Mans where Beretta and Papis were joined by David Saelens and placed chassis 08 second overall. This would be the final outing for the car and it was retired to the Panoz Museum. It remained here for many years until it was swapped for one of the GTR-1 Coupes with a French enthusiast and historic racer. He had the car rebuilt to its most potent, 1999 specification and livery. It was first raced in this guise at the 2025 Le Mans Classic. The impressive period racing history was preserved as the car can be changed to the later configuration relatively quickly.
