Chassis:
Finished in Titanium Yellow with an Alcantara interior, this early McLaren F1 was sold new to the Brunei Royal Family. It was later repatriated and sold through David Clark, who was the former Director of McLaren Cars. It ended up in the United States where it entered a long-term ownership in 2006. It was almost immediately sent back to McLaren Special Operations in Woking where it was completely rebuilt, re-finished in white and fitted with the desirable High Downforce Kit. The bill for this work exceeded $500,000. Once returned to its owner, it was regularly used, accruing over 9,000 miles during the next decade. It was then sold to a collector in Denmark and the ex-Brunei Royal Family was then consigned to the 2025 RM Sotheby’s Abu Dhabi auction with 13,711 miles on the odometer.
